Heroic Hound: Kacey Musgraves’ Dog Survives Rattlesnake Bite
Kacey Musgraves recently shared an emotional update on her dog, Pepper, who bravely shielded her from a venomous timber rattlesnake. The rattlesnake struck Pepper on Musgraves’ Tennessee porch, and though the bite was serious, Pepper is now recovering at home. Timber rattlesnake bites are highly toxic and even deadly, but quick action by Musgraves, who rushed Pepper to the vet for an anti-venom shot, made all the difference.
Musgraves expressed her gratitude in a post with October photos, including one showing a red mark on Pepper’s snout. She praised Pepper for her bravery, noting that “Blue Heelers are never this calm,” showing the dog’s uncharacteristic lethargy. Pepper is on pain meds and getting lots of love during her recovery.
The country star, currently touring her sixth album, Deeper Well, is taking a break to care for Pepper. Musgraves adopted the pup with her ex-husband in 2020. Fans can look forward to her tour resuming in November, but for now, Musgraves is grateful for “good dogs” like Pepper who protect us when we least expect it.
